First Semester Journals
Senior Year Beginning

Many new seniors tend to get nervous in their last year of high school due to some of their classes, especially the ones who are on university track because they need to take more difficult classes but given the classes I have this year I feel as if the year will be a bit challenging. As long as I keep a positive mindset and stick to doing my work I will do good. It is barely the third day of school and I already have homework for four different classes due in two days. I know that as the year goes by the work will become harder and so will my classes. In those classes I have a small amount of friends which means there’s a bigger chance of me finishing strong. I’ve got great teachers along with that and hope to build a good relationship with my teachers.
The senior project requires multiple things in it and at the moment i am working on my journal for my first semester of my senior year and then will work on my summary for my second semester of senior year. Next week I am hoping to do my job shadow on a guitar teacher from farmersville who’m I here is a good lad. I hope I learn a lot from him and enjoy the job and see a whole different perspective of the job. I will then turn in my job shadow and then start adding some of my best essays to my weebly page for the senior exit interview.
This being our last year in highschool i’m going to make the best of it by creating multiple memories with friends and teachers. I am truly looking forward to the recitals that the advanced guitar class will have and the gigs the honors guitar group will have in the winter and spring and if I do good in my classes during fall I will also join basketball for my senior year just to make more memories. We will also have some more fun especially in the basketball rallies where they tell everyone to come support us in our big games. But more importantly I am excited for the challenges I will overcome and graduate and look back and be able to tell myself I made it then comes a new chapter where I start college.
For this year i’m planning on graduating for the most part and am really hopeful on having a great fun year with friends. Like I said it will be challenging knowing that this year we will be taking finals but at the end I know my hard work will pay off. Once I graduate i’m planning on going to Fresno City College where I will attend for two years then transfer to Fresno state where I will attend four years and hopefully with all the hard work I put in get to graduate with a degree in music teaching.

So far the year was off to a good start I was passing all my classes, I was doing good in the honors group and I was good with all my teachers but as time passed I started getting lazy but I still turned in my work. In September I went to scicon, a 1 week field trip, as a counselor and I was their guardian for the whole week and I didn’t do homework while I was there. When I got back I was a little behind in work and so I would just tell myself i’d do it later but I wouldn’t and so that’s how I started falling behind in my classes. Right now i’m struggling with my economics class and my math class. Economics has more than 20 vocabulary words every new measurement topic and I don’t really study the words so that’s why I struggle in that class. My math class is hard because there are too many steps to solving problems and so I just get lost throughout the class period. My senior project is coming along quite well I just need to add a couple activities or groups that i’m in and I need to add my senior writing. On the day of my job shadow I learned a lot from professor Cooper. He explained how he had to practice a lot, learn many things, and overcome obstacles to get where he is now which showed me that hard work pays off because now he only works 3 days of the week and gets paid a great salary all for doing what he enjoys most. My plans for now are to graduate high-school then attend two years at College of the Sequoias to finish my general education and once i’m done with that I am planning to transfer to Fresno State to study music and maybe architecture. I have not yet signed up for any colleges yet but I will as soon as I know I qualify for FAFSA but as soon as I get the results I will try to submit an application for College of the Sequoias. What excites me the most about being done with high-school is that I am finally going to be done and now I am going to move on to the real world and experience how it is out there. This year I have joined two activities which are joining the honors group and the guitar club which I have had a blast in so far. The guitar club is for guitar learners who cooperate and have sales to raise their own money to go on field trips. In the honors group I have had trouble because we are learning multiple songs at a time but we practice hard which has made us better than the last honors group according to our conductor/teacher. We have had 6 gigs in total so far and all of them have gone great so far although we have messed up a bit in some songs we manage to stick together and make it sound good at the end.

These past few months of my senior year haven’t been too great because i’ve been stressing a lot and slacking off at school and in my school work. I’ve been trying to stay on pace on all my classes but my procrastination has been getting the best of me. I’m am mainly struggling with my economics class because I don’t practice the vocab and I wait last minute to get everything done. I’m also struggling with my math class because it’s too many steps and formulas that I don’t seem to remember so I tend to struggle with quizzes. My ag mechanics is quite easy but for some reason it shows on my report that I am failing the class so I need to speak to my teacher about that and what I need to be on pace. English is the last class that I am having trouble with but the main reason I am failing the class is because I am not excelling on my reading skills in reading plus. This year I joined the guitars honors group hoping it would be fun but because I am slacking off and doing low in school I didn’t make the eligibility list so now I cannot perform for the group. I am quite anxious about not walking because I have been coming late a couple days to school. For the holidays I am hoping to spend time with family and have a lot of fun seeing them open their presents. It’s amazing that 2017 is right around the corner because I still remember when it was barely gonna be 2016 and i’m excited to see what the new year brings to me.
